On Harbin Model of Modern Urbanization

Abstract

Owing to the help of outside force of modernization, city emerged, developed and sprang up quickly. We call it modern urbanization. Harbin was only natural communal system which dominated by traditional scattered natural village economy before the building of Middle-east Railway. With ME Railway built, Harbin had rapidly been international metropolis in the Far East in thirty years. ME Railway had always been regarded as the important tool which was used to invade North East of China by Imperialism. However, this evil started the Modernization process of Harbin’s numerous fields. Compared the traditional urban, Harbin broke the model which the traditional urban developed firstly because of priority to administration center. In the structure, function and nature of city, Harbin had presented own modern urbanization’s feature, and been a case of modern urbanization.
