Evolution Analysis of the Coupling Between Resource-environment and Population-economy in Six Western Provinces Along the “Silk Road Economic Beltâ€
Abstract
The six western provinces are characterized by fragile ecological environment, underdeveloped economy, and prominent contradiction between population-economy and resourceenvironment. This paper sets up the evaluation index system and uses the coupling coordination degree model to study the evolution of resource-environment and population-economy in the six western provinces from 2006 to 2015. The results show that resource-environment in the six western provinces have a comprehensive slow growth, but the development of resourceenvironment in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia and Xinjiang has been declining. The development level of population-economy has increased rapidly. The coupling relationship tends to change from slightly recession to good coordination. Therefore, it is proposed to develop ecological economy and circular economy, improve population quality and labor productivity, develop diversified forms and mode of employment, and adhere to a path of coordinated and sustainable development of resource-environment and population-economy under the strategy of “Silk Road Economic Beltâ€.
