A Preliminary Study on the Professional Quality of Science Teachers in Primary Schools—Based on the Background of the Combination of Maker and STEAM Education

Abstract


The "Professional Standards for Primary and Secondary School Teachers (Trial)" issued by the Ministry of Education sets standards for the professional qualities of qualified teachers in the three aspects, including professional philosophy and teacher ethics, professional knowledge, and professional capabilities. In this study, through combining the characteristics of STEAM education and Makers education in the context of the times, we proposed several the professional qualities that should be possessed by new science teachers, including good professional attitudes, compound professional knowledge and innovative professional competence.
